WARREN - John P. Lesko, 62, died at 9:24 a.m. Sunday, April 29, 2012, at his residence following a short illness.
He was born March 3, 1950, in Warren, the son of the late Joseph A. Sr. and Anna Harkus Lesko.
John was a 1968 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and retired in 2011 from Northfolk Southern Railroad as a foreman after 30 years. He was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Byzantine Church and was an active member in the Warren VFW Post 1090 and the Slovak Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, canning, gardening and was an avid sports fan, especially The Ohio State University and Cleveland Brown and Indians.
On July 31, 1971, he married Patricia A. "Patty" Farris Lesko, and she preceded him in death on March 8, 1999.
Survivors include two children, Charyl (Craig) Westbay of Milton, Vt., and Angela J. "Angie" (Shawn) Davidson of Warren; five grandchildren, Catlyn, Cody and Curt Westbay, and Zachary and Brayden Davidson; a brother, Joseph A. Lesko Jr. of Newport, Mich.; three sisters, Carol J. (Bill) Byland, Anna (David) Peterson and Karen (Buddy) McClung Jr., all of Warren; a companion, Gail Santucci of Warren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel. A service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery, Cortland.
