SCOPE HOSTS SPRING SHOW: The SCOPE Inc. Spotlight spring variety show "Legends" will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at Lakeview High School, 300 Hillman Drive. Entertainment legends from the stage, screen, comedy shows and the world of music will be showcased, highlighting a variety of talent in different age groups, from students and teens to senior citizens. RETIREES TO MEET: Howland Schools Retirees will meet at 11 a.m. May 1 at Enzo's. All retired personnel, classified and non-classified, are welcome to attend the monthly lunch meetings along with their spouses or guests. GUARDIAN ANGELS SEEK VOLUNTEERS: The Guardian Angels of Ohio, a volunteer program of the Trumbull County Probate Court, is looking for new volunteers. Angel volunteers receive training to become advocates who reach out as friends to seniors who may need a friendly phone call, visitor to a nursing home or a visit at home. Angels also are involved in planning special events for seniors such as health fairs and Make A Difference Day projects. VALLEYCARE LAUNCHES SENIOR CIRCLE: Seniors in Trumbull and Mahoning County communities have a new resource: Senior Circle, a program designed especially for adults age 50 and older to promote fellowship, fun and healthy aging.
ValleyCare Health System of Ohio is launching Senior Circle at Northside Medical Center and Trumbull Memorial Hospital to provide area seniors an outlet for enjoying their golden years and pursuing an active lifestyle, while learning about health and wellness and meeting others with similar interests. Senior Circle membership provides a variety of benefits, including social opportunities, health education programs, exercise classes, volunteerism, entertainment, and day and overnight travel ranging from area historical and cultural attractions to resort destinations.
Spring into Senior Circle and attend one of the free kickoff events hosted by Northside Medical Center and Trumbull Memorial Hospital.

Ted Cubbison, a resident of Park Vista and long-time member of the Youngstown Lions Club, received the past district governor's award for his work and dedication to the club. This is one of the highest awards in Lionism.
Five past district governors came to the Lions weekly meeting on March 29 to present the award. The meeting was held in Park Vista's Gathering Room.
The book tells the story of the Slovak community in the Mahoning Valley from the first wave of immigrants in the 1870s to today. Archival photographs and distinctive stories from the past weave the rich tapestry depicting the lives of Slovak immigrants fleeing poverty in Europe for the hope and prosperity of the Valley's steel mills.
