CENTER TO CELEBRATE 40TH ANNIVERSARY: This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Howland Recycling Center on North River Road next to the Public Works Department. An open house will be held on Saturday with music and free giveaways. In addition, Allied Waste will be there with a recycling truck and information about the township curbside recycling program.
GROUP PLANS CLEANUP: Project Be Somebody will hold a park cleanup starting at 9 a.m. April 21 and 22 at Banks Park off state Route 82. Those who can volunteer are asked to bring gloves, garbage bags, weed trimmers and wheelbarrows. The cleanup will be to prepare the park for the playground construction to be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 5.
The wheelchair-accessible playground will be by the ballfield at the LaBrae Athletic Club. Signups are 8 a.m. The event will be held rain or shine. A ribbon-cutting for the new playground is 2 p.m. May 12. For information, call Lisa at 330-898-6681.
PARK HOLDS GARAGE SALE: Mosquito Lake Park will hold a garage sale Friday to Sunday at the campgrounds. The park is also planning Pets in Park Day on May 5 and 6 at the Pet Park at Mosquito Lake with vendors and events for pets and their owners.
HISTORIC HOUSE CLOSED FOR CLEANING: The Hubbard Historical Society's McBride House will be closed in April for cleaning. It will be open from 2 to 5 p.m. May 20, with tours to be arranged at 330-534-4247.
TIRE COLLECTION IN HUBBARD: Hubbard Township and city residents can drop off tires from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at the township administration building rear parking lot. There is a limit of four tires per household. No semi or tractor tires will be accepted. For information call 330-534-9798.
