Ron and Loretta Filipan celebrated their 50th anniversary with a renewal of their vows at St. Columba Cathedral. They were married July 1, 1961, at St. Rose Church in Girard, where they are still parishioners.
Ron, the son of Raymond Filipan of Niles and the late Virginia Nafe Filipan, is retired as a motor inspector from U.S. Steel, McDonald Works after 23 years of employment. He was also a self-employed painter for more than a decade. He was a member of the United Steelworkers Union and the Painters, Decorators and Paperhangers Union 476. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Marine Corps, is a 3rd degree Knight of Columbus and a member of the Holy Name Society.
Loretta, daughter of the late Andy and Mary L. Ciminelli Guido, is employed at Dillard's Eastwood as a seasonal apparel specialist and previously worked for 10 years at Allen's Drugtown in Liberty. She earned a 10-year pin for volunteering at the Ladies Professional Golf Association tournaments and was also a volunteer at St. Rose Elementary School for many years.
