NATIONAL CHILD ABUSE AND NEGLECT PREVENTION MONTH: Every year during the month of April, there is a statewide campaign to promote public awareness of the issues surrounding child abuse and neglect. With the support of a grant from the Ohio Children's Trust Fund, Mahoning County Children Services will host several events to educate and inform the community about child abuse prevention.
On Wednesday, various businesses, agencies and community organizations will be participating in Ohio's Wear Blue to Work Day. This awareness day is to not only promote child abuse awareness but to also encourage communities to work together in child abuse prevention efforts.
Organizations who are participating in this event are encouraged to take photos and send them by e-mail to cruzr@odjfs.

A community training titled "How Helping Professionals can Cope with the Power of H.O.P.E." will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 16 at Mahoning County Children Services, 222 W. Federal St., Youngstown.
A lunch-and-learn session also will be included during the lunch hour for participants. Child abuse prevention efforts will be discussed. HEALTH CAREER WORKSHOP BEING OFFERED: For anyone considering a health career, the NEO HealthForce Career Workshop will be from 8:30 .m. to 1 p.m. April 18 at the Community Outreach Center - Champion Presbyterian Church, 4997 Mahoning Ave. N.W., Warren.
Participants will hear health professionals with years of experience talk about working in their fields and the education and training needed. The workshop will include schools and colleges that provide health career training that ranges from short certificate courses up to four-year degree programs. In addition, financial aid information will be available.
The workshop is free and open to the public.

NILES HOLDS IMMUNIZATION CLINIC: An immunization clinic will be offered from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. April 18 at the Niles Health Department, 34 W. IMMUNIZATION CLINICS OFFERED: Warren City Health Department is offering a children's immunization clinic from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. April 23, at the Warren City Health Department, 418 Main Ave. S.W., Warren.
