CORTLAND - James T. Ronian, 88, died Thursday, April 5, 2012, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.
James was born June 11, 1923, in Warren, the son of James T. and Hanna Sheddon Ronian.
He was a graduate of Howland High School and received a bachelor of science degree from Marietta College.

James was a veteran of World War II and Vietnam, having served in the U.S. Navy. He was the commanding officer for the Naval Reserve Training Center in Akron from 1967 to '70.
James retired from Packard Electric as an engineer in 1980.
He was a member of Howland Community Church, the Carroll F. Clapp Lodge, Mahoning Chapter of the VFW, the Masons, Trumbull County Boat Club, and was a life member of the U.S. Navy League.
He enjoyed golfing, boating, camping and woodworking. James was the secretary for the bowling league, Navy League, and served as secretary and president of the Boat Club.
James married his wife of 56 years, Thelma E. Dilley Ronian, on April 6, 1946.
James will be deeply missed by his wife, Thelma; a daughter, Judith K. Egner of Romulus, Mich.; a son, Kale T. Ronian of Akron; four grandchildren, Valerie (Robert) Jones, Rebecca Brown, Jaime (Scott) Smith and David (Katie) Egner; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A son, Mark D. Ronian, and his parents preceded James in death.
Calling hours for James will be from noon to 2 p.m. Monday, with the funeral service immediately following at 2 p.m. at Crown Hill Chapel Mausoleum in Vienna.
Burial will take place in Crown Hill Burial Park.
