I read the letter to the editor by Mr. Hosaflook titled "Rich and poor are relative terms."
Plutocracy is the running or ruling of government by the wealthy. This is the road our country is going down. The rich have drastically tilted the playing field of democracy toward plutocracy with high-priced, high-pressured lobbyists in state capitals and in Washington, and distributing campaign contributions to politicians in exchange for favors that are unfortunately granted by many politicians.
I bring this up because the rich and their addiction of power and greed is what brought on the financial collapse of 2008 and the transfer of a lot of haves to a lot of have-nots, which I am pretty sure 95 percent of the transfers did not want to become.
After coming home from a trip to Europe and being stunned and dismayed by the wealth disparity between the rich, working class and poor, a lot of our founding fathers were not against levying extra taxes on the rich in our own country, so as not to allow to much wealth and power to be concentrated in a small group of our own citizens.
Throughout the history of man a plutocratic government has never lasted and always ended ugly. If you think plutocracy isn't being pushed or forced upon us, then just listen to the Republican presidential nominees and their grand plan if they become president.
