On Friday, the Shepherd of the Valley-Niles Dream Team fulfilled another Second Wind Dream when assisted living residents Bill and Molly Gales did something they have been doing for 72 years: making beautiful music on the dance floor.
Two years ago, Niles natives Bill and Molly Gales, returned home from Florida. Missing their family and friends, they made the move to Shepherd of the Valley-Niles. Although the move was challenging for the couple, they know that as long as they had beautiful music to dance to, they would be home.
Even at the age of 92 and 91, Bill and Molly have a reputation for being the first on the dance floor and the last to leave. They love everything from polkas to slow dances and they dance every night.

Niles natives Bill and Molly Gales are celebrating 72 years of marriage and were treated to a candlelight dinner at Shepherd of the Valley Assisted Living. Following dinner, the couple spent the rest of their evening dancing at Avon Oaks Ballroom in Girard. Molly, 91, and Bill, 92, have a reputation for being the first on the dance floor and the last to leave.
"After the evening news, Bill sings our favorite song and we dance while he sings, " Molly said.
The song is "Let It Be Me" by the Everly Brothers.
The couple has been married since 1940. That adds up to 72 years - or 26,280 days - of dancing.
To fulfil Bill and Molly's Second Wind Dream, the SOV-Niles Dream Team arranged a candlelight dinner in the Shepherd Assisted Living library. Dinner was followed by an evening of dancing at Avon Oaks Ballroom where the cover charge hadbeen waived.
The Shepherd staff joins with Second Wind Dreams to help senior citizens realize one more dream. The program highlights the positive aspects of aging and encourages the community to join in on the celebration of life by making their dreams a reality.
