STORYTELLER: Jocelyn Dabney, a storyteller in the African-American oral tradition, will present a program with music and participatory stories at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library. Robert Dabney, her husband, will accompany her with his drumming and singing talents. The program is free.
HEART BALL: Leaders in the local medical community will be honored at the American Heart Association's 2012 Heart Ball on Saturday at the Butler Institute of American Art. Proceeds will go toward research. Tickets are $150 per person. For tickets, call 330-965-9230.
BENEFIT TO HELP MAN: A benefit with a 50-50 raffle and Chinese auction and meal will start at 3 p.m. Saturday at Milo's Lounge, 5840 1/2 Youngstown Road, Niles, for funeral expenses for the family of Nick Lewis, who recently died in a car accident. Cost of the dinner at 7 p.m. is $5 per person.
SCANNER CLUB TO MEET: The Greater Youngstown Monitoring Scanner Club will hold its fifth annual winter scan at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Boardman United Methodist Church, 6809 Market St., Boardman. Those attending can bring scanners, programmable or crystal, for display. The event is open to the public.
CLOTHES CLOSET: The third winter clothes closet will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the Central Christian Church, 44 S. Main St., Hubbard. Entrance is at the side door. There is a need for infant and children's clothes. There is no charge as all items are donated.
