Practical people running the world

February 5, 2012

DEAR EDITOR:

President Barack Obama addressed the United States last week, and in case you missed it, our problems are solved. If we listen to him and do what he says, the future is bright.

Tax credits. Maybe war. Sure, we'll have to persevere. We're not safe yet, but chill out. He's got this.

If Obama's confidence won't make you feel better, perhaps you'll listen to the Republican rebuttal. Sen. what's-his-face from some-place is confident that Obama will ruin us. What we should do is listen to what's-his-face and do what he says.

Either way, we win.

What I've seen of politicians is that they know what to do. They can't all be full of it.

It'd be like they were just telling us whatever so we'd give them money and power.

I mean, it's not like they spend years and millions of dollars trying to market a public persona, selling themselves for sound-bites.

What kind of person would let that go on around them? You'd be crazy to. The American people are not crazy.

Popularity is not bought. Debates are not won by showmanship. A person wins an argument by being right. And someone always wins.

People should line up behind someone. Are they stupid or just lazy? Because it's practical people like me who run this world.

People could learn a lesson from those tea party folks. They worked within the system to accomplish their clearly articulated demands. And now, they're about to get everything they wanted: a second term for Barack Obama.

Imagine how much money and influence they could raise.
