NILES - The Cafaro Corp. on Tuesday confirmed a Tribune Chronicle report in December that preliminary talks are under way to build a four-story, nationally branded all-suite hotel at the Eastwood Mall in Niles.
The hotel would be attached directly behind the mall near Dillard's department store, the company said. Each room will offer a kitchen area with full-size appliances for extended-stay business travelers, as well as families.
The project also will include an adjacent banquet and conference center for events from 25 to 1,000 people. Cafaro said it's seeking an operator for the center, preferably a Mahoning Valley company. Inquiries can be made at www.east-wood.com.
The company said construction would commence soon after negotiations are finalized, with an expected opening in 2013.
"The combination of what will be one of the region's largest and highest quality banquet and conference facilities with a nationally renowned extended-stay hotel further positions the Eastwood Mall Complex as the one-stop destination for shopping, dining, entertainment and now lodging and major events," company Co-President Anthony Cafaro Jr. said.
