Catholic Schools Week set for Jan. 29

St. Patrick School is preparing for Catholic Schools to be held Jan. 29 to Feb. 3.

The week will begin with a special mass at 11 a.m. Jan. 29 at St. Patrick Church, 367 N. Main St.

Students from the school will lead the mass with parent participation speaking on the meaning of the school to their families. Everyone in the Hubbard and surrounding communities are invited to attend.

Following the mass, an open house will be held at noon at St. Patrick's School, 38 E. Water St. Students, families, and staff will be on hand to provide tours, answer questions and provide information.

On Jan. 30, the annual American Cancer Society Relay for Life event will be held at the Parish Center. The all-day event begins at 8:30 a.m. with closing ceremonies around 2 p.m.

The week events also will include an assembly by J.J. Brothers, Jan. 31; Student Appreciation Day, which includes a Phantoms hockey game in the morning and movies and treats in the afternoon, Feb. 1; science fair and judging and Teacher Appreciation Day luncheon, Feb. 2; and all-school Mass followed by family brunch in church hall, Feb. 3.

The Scholastic Book Fair will be held each day during the week from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Leading up to Catholic Schools Week, St. Patrick School is now conducting Shadow Days for interested families. Shadow Days give students an opportunity to spend a normal day in their respective grades at St. Patrick School. Students who will be in kindergarten in the 2012-13 school year are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity.
