SOUTHINGTON - Juanita Joyce Elston, 88, went to be with the Lord at 10:35 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012, at Laurie Ann Nursing Home in Newton Falls surrounded by her family.
She was born Oct. 24, 1923, in Warren, the daughter of the late Alexander and Florence Mae Barr McIntosh Kelly.
Juanita was a graduate of Southington Chalker High School and was a homemaker. Formerly she worked for Ohio Lamp.
Mrs. Elston was a member of Southington Christian Church where she served in many positions. She also was a Sunday school teacher for 40 years. Juanita was a member of the Southington American Legion Auxillary 751.
Survivors include her husband, Jack Harlan Elston, whom she married on May 25, 1946; children, Joseph (Pat) Nowery of Mesa, Ariz., CoAnn (Butch) Osman of Niles, Doreen (Edward) Dulka of Southington, Carolyn Lenney of Wheatland, Pa., Sheila (Edwin) Stigleman of Masury, Jack P. Elston of Southington and Janet "Hope" Warner of Warren; 21 foster children; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Hazel Hunt of Liberty.
Preceding her in death were two sisters, Iva Kallok and Thelma Baxter; and four brothers, Donald, Alexander, Bartholomew and Jack Kelly.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home where the Rev. Randall Riley and the Rev. Rodd Meyers will both celebrate Juanita's life.
Family and friends may visit from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Southington Reformed Cemetery.
