HILLSIDE HOSTS CHRISTMAS WONDERLAND: Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital, an affiliate of Valley Care Health System of Ohio, is hosting its annual Christmas Wonderland fundraiser. Hillside has approximately 70 trees, wreaths and decorations on display that will be raffled off with all proceeds benefiting the American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association and American Heart Association.
The displays are located throughout Hillside's main entrance hallway and outpatient entrance hallway. Visitors are welcome to stop by to visit the displays and purchase raffle tickets.
Raffle winners will be announced Jan. 3. Raffle tickets are one for a $1 and siz for $5.
Front entrance desk hours are noon to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon through 8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Outpatient entrance desk hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (closed for lunch from noon to 12:30 p.m.)

HMHP BEGINS SLIMDOWN CLASSES: SlimDown, a six-week adult weight management program taught by registered dietitians certified in weight management, will begin classes 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Jan. 3 to Feb. 7 at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center, 5401 Market St., Boardman; Wednesdays, Jan. 4 to Feb. 8 at St. Joe's at the Mall, Eastwood Mall, Niles; and Thursdays, Jan. 5 to Feb. 9 at St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown.
Cost is $40 for new participants and $20 for repeat participants. Dietitians teach lifestyle changes in food, activities and behaviors.

GAME OF HOPE CLASSIC: The Hope Foundation of the Mahoning Valley is announcing the Nominate-A-Player honoree for the eighth annual Game of Hope Charity Basketball Classic. The Game of Hope Classic is a charity basketball game that benefits chronically / terminally ill children, so that they may have experiences generally afforded by healthy children. The event will take place on Feb. 4 at Beeghly Center on the campus of Youngstown State University, with the teams being comprised of local elected officials, community leaders, dignitaries and media, with tip-off at 4:30 p.m.
This award is given to the person who donates their time and effort to their respective community. That individual gets to participate in the basketball game on the same team as our leaders and notables. It is a way to give back to the community by recognizing their involvement through the work they have done in the community.

LOCAL SURGEON ADDRESSES CONFERENCE IN SPAIN: Dr. Lawrence A. DiDomenico, managing partner at Ankle and Foot Care Centers, was among a panel of lecturers who recently addressed an international orthopedic and podiatric surgical conference in Madrid, Spain.
DiDomenico's lecture and workshop topics at the International Course of Theory and Practice of Foot and Ankle Surgery included ankle replacement, reconstruction of flat feet in adults, tendon transfers, and new trends in foot and ankle surgery.
