Man reports being shot in eye
WARREN - A Hunter Avenue man told police he was shot in the eye while he walked along Parkman Road about 9:45 p.m. Monday.
Wayne W. Cipra, 49, said he took himself to a local hospital.
Police spokesman Sgt. Jeff Cole said the man told police that doctors are trying to determine if he was shot with a BB gun, a pellet gun or an actual firearm. Cole said the injuries do not appear to be serious and detectives are looking into the claims.
Brookfield offices move to new space
BROOKFIELD - Effective Thursday, Brookfield Local Schools superintendent's and treasurer's offices will be located at the new school facility, 614 Bedford Road S.E., P.O. Box 209, Brookfield, 44403.
The change also affects the offices of the maintenance supervisor, superintendent's secretary, EMIS coordinator and treasurer's assistants.
Man in court after robbery
LIBERTY - A Youngstown man accused of robbing a Belmont Avenue pizza shop at gunpoint late Friday with another man and then leading police on a chase before being surrounded in Crandall Park is being held in the Trumbull County Jail on bond.
Lawaun N. West, 19, 1503 Ford Ave., entered no plea at his initial appearance Monday in Girard Municipal Court and is scheduled to appear there today for a preliminary hearing. He is being held on a $50,000 bond. He was charged with first-degree felony aggravated robbery and fifth-degree felony obstructing official business.
Reports said an employee of Little Caesar's Pizza, 3551 Belmont Ave., was getting ready to close the store about 10 p.m. Friday when two masked men walked in the door, pointed guns at her and demanded money.
The woman told police she handed over $1,243 from the safe and cash register and the men left.
Police later found West at Crandall Park. The other suspect had not been found as of Tuesday.
I-680 reopened after spill
YOUNGSTOWN - A section of Interstate 680 was closed for a few hours Tuesday after an accident and diesel fuel spill.
The accident happened on I-680 North between South Avenue and the Himrod Avenue Expressway about 10:30 a.m. after a semi crashed and diesel fuel was spilled on the roadway.
The section of interstate was reopened by 1 p.m., according to police.
