YOUNGSTOWN - Joel Mastervich, president and chief executive of V&M Star, will join David Mustine, JobsOhio's energy czar, among the keynote speakers at the Youngstown-Warren Regional Chamber's Youngstown Ohio Utica & Natural Gas, or Y.O.U.N.G., 2011 conference and trade show Nov. 30 at the Covelli Centre in downtown Youngstown.
Ohio's first Utica shale play conference will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., allowing attendees to view exhibits, as well as learn about the science of hydrofracking and essential tips for landowners.
Walt Good, the Regional Chamber's vice president of economic development, said, "Ohio's shale plays are transforming this region's and our nation's economy. This event gives participants the ability to hear from and interact with those at the forefront of this burgeoning energy revolution."
The conference and tradeshow will feature exhibits from companies that are involved in the supply chain for the industry. Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 396 will have two large trailers on the floor filled with hands-on displays that demonstrate advanced welding practices.
The morning session is open to the public and entry is free. The afternoon session, which includes a mixer at 5:30 p.m., costs $50.

10 a.m.: Dr. Jeffrey Dick, Youngstown State University, on "Fracking: Fact vs. Fiction"
11 a.m.: Attorney Eric Johnson, Johnson & Johnson, on "Legally Speaking, What Do Property Owners Need To Know?"
The afternoon session will target local and national companies that want to learn more about the supply chain for the oil and gas industry and hear about Ohio's receptiveness to the investment and job creation activities associated with shale gas.

3:30 p.m.: David Mustine, energy general manager for JobsOhio, on "Ohio & Shale Play Energy Opportunities"
