YOUNGSTOWN - A teenage escapee from Trumbull County was captured by federal and local law enforcement officers in Youngstown this morning.
Don-Tay D. "Tweety" Johnson, 16, of 217 E. Dewey, Youngstown, was caught about 9:45 a.m. at a home in the 600 block of Magnolia Street on Youngstown's East Side, according to law enforcement sources.
The source declined to release how they received the tip on the teen's whereabouts.
Johnson was wanted on charges of escape and assaulting a peace officer after authorities say he broke out of his Juvenile Justice Center cell Aug. 15, rushed the control room, beat up the officer and unlocked every door in the detention center to let himself out.
He was originally being held at JJC on a robbery charge.
U.S. Marshals, Mahoning Valley Violent Crimes Task Force and Youngstown Police K-9 unit assisted in this morning's capture.
