Good Samaritan robbed after giving ride to Warren
WARREN - A Cortland man was robbed at gunpoint by a man who told him he would pay $10 for a ride, police said.
Ken A. Hudnell, 49, 6809 Hoagland Blackstub Road, told police he received a call from a man he knows asking if he could have a ride to a house in Warren, and that he would pay the man $10 for gas.
Hudnell reported that he picked the man up about 5 p.m. from a home on state Route 193 near state Route 88. The man gave him directions until they got on Tod Avenue, when the man pulled his gun on Hudnell, demanded money and threatened Hudnell's life, reports said.
The man stole $210 from Hudnell's wallet and ran into a nearby apartment building, according to the police report. Hudnell said he drove to the back of the apartment to wait for the man to come out but never saw him.
Cuyahoga Falls man killed in Milton crash
MILTON - A Cuyahoga Falls man was killed in a collision Thursday morning on Interstate 76 in Milton.
Shawn Dunn, 43, 2476 Theiss Road, Cuyahoga Falls, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Canfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
According to the patrol, a commercial tractor-trailer was stopped at the bridge because of road work when Dunn's Ford F-150 pickup truck ran into its rear at 10:09 a.m. The force of the crash pushed the tractor-trailer rig into the rear of a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am driven by Robert Mozden.
Neither Mozden nor the tractor driver, Robert Bredau, suffered any injuries, according to the patrol.
Dunn was wearing his seat belt. The crash remains under investigation, according to the patrol.
Four vie for two seats on Howland school board
WARREN - Scott Lehman of Augusta Place N.E. and Barbara Wright of Squires Lane N.E. are seeking a full-term seat on the Howland School District Board of Education in the November election.
Seeking to fill an unexpired term seat are Kenneth Jones of Hawks Landing N.E. and Dawn M. Zwetzig of Henn Hyde Road N.E.
