ANDOVER - Two local athletes set new meet records at the Division II district meet at Pymatuning Valley High School. Andre Elkins of LaBrae won the long jump with a 21-8.5, breaking the old mark of 21-7.5 set by Toma Leveto of Lakeview last year. "This was the first good day of the season," said Elkins, who placed eighth in the Division II state long jump last year. "At the beginning of the day, I didn't think I could get the record, but I was warmed up for the finals." Newton Falls' Destiny Prusky placed first in the high jump with 5-5.25. The old record was 5-5, set in 2009 by Jefferson's Lizzy Ziemski. "Luckily, it was a great day," Prusky said. "I felt good. I actually hoped I could go higher. I'm hoping to get to 5-6 or 5-7. I feel I'm right on schedule to try and make it to state."
