Special display at Rescue Mission

The Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley, 962 Martin Luther King Blvd., Youngstown, is displaying ''CHERISH THE OLD FAMILY BIBLE'' for Christmas at the mission. The display was created by volunteer Carol Perkins of Austintown. Perkins created the holiday decorating theme for the mission's lobby with old Bibles, antique sewing machines and wooden furniture. Tours of the mission are available year-round by calling 330-744-5485.

The Friends of the Hubbard Library are accepting DONATIONS OF BOOKS, CDs, DVDs, puzzles and games for their ongoing book sale under the stairs. There is a need for children's books. Donations may be made at the circulation desk during regular library hours. For information call Bonnie Viele at 330-534-1394.

First United Methodist Church, 309 N. Park Ave., Warren, will hold a CHRISTMAS EVE CANDLELIGHT SERVICE at 5 p.m. Friday.

Warren First Assembly of God, 2640 Parkman Road, Warren, will hold a CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICE at 6 p.m. on Friday.

Girard First United Methodist Church will hold CHRISTMAS EVE CANDLELIGHT SERVICES at 4:30 and 7 p.m. Friday.

Newton Falls First Baptist Church, 2640 S. Canal St., will hold CHRISTMAS EVE CANDLELIGHT SERVICES at 5 and 7 p.m. Fridays.

Grace AME Church , 1137 Main Ave., Warren, will hold a CHRISTMAS EVE CANDLELIGHT SERVICE at 6 p.m. on Friday.

Greene Church of the Nazarene, corner of Routes 46 and 87, will hold a CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICE at 6 p.m. Friday.

Log Cabin Ministries, 565 North Niles Canfield (state Route 46), Austintown, will hold a CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICE at 6 p.m. on Friday.

PROJECT FEED OUR VALLEY collects food and money during November and December for the hungry, and works to raise awareness of about the growing number of hungry people in the community. Since its inception in 2008, the Feed Our Valley campaign has raised nearly $200,000 and collected more than 185,000 pounds of food for Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley, which distributes food to 153 hunger relief organizations in Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties.
