Mr. and Mrs. William Pettigrew were guests of honor at their home with a surprise anniversary party given by their children, Monica (Kenny) Ray and Ted (Wendy) Pettigrew.
William Pettigrew and the former Dolores Kunkle were married Sept. 24, 1960, by the Rev. E. Stewart Proper, uncle of the bride, in Vandergrift, Pa. Mrs. Pettigrew's maid of honor, Shirley Toth, attended the celebration.
Mr. Pettigrew served in the U.S. Navy and retired from General Motors Corp. in 2000. Mrs. Pettigrew worked for Hills Department Store.

The couple also have four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A grandson is deceased.
They are members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Niles.
Mr. Pettigrew enjoys golf, and Mrs. Pettigrew enjoys playing cards. They both enjoy spending time with their grandchildren.
Guests from Ohio and Pennsylvania attended.
The couple also celebrated their anniversary with a family dinner at the Cafe 422 in Warren and spent several days in Atlantic City, N.J.
