GRAND VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL Class of 1960 held its 50th reunion Aug. 6 at Grand River Cellars Winery in Madison. Thirty-one classmates attended and received a gold-rimmed wine goblet keepsake and a 50th class directory including pages of senior pictures from the 1960 yearbook, a class history of all classmates who began high school in 1956, pictures of the old Grand Valley District Schools, history of the school and more. John Johnson researched the history, and Antoinette Drabek McCarty prepared the directory.
Albert Sedivec eulogized classmate Agnes Lambert Mersek, who died in 2007. Each classmate told something about themselves and what they have done since graduation.
All the class officers were present - John Johnson, president; Carol Waskalis Russek, vice president; Sandra Magdych Ralston, secretary; and Penelope Miller Martin, treasurer.
Classmates came from Colorado, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania and Ohio.
The Grand Valley Alumni Association annual reunion / banquet honored the 1960 class on Aug. 7. David Hippely of Middlefield, Darlene Hickey Difford of Orwell and Roberta Woodworth VanWinkle of Dorset were among the 31 graduates.
Classmates and guests were invited to McCarty's home after the alumni reunion. Bryan (1960) and Doug Weisbarth (1957), Kelly Slane (1957) and Roger Wade (1970) strummed their banjos and guitars while others enjoyed catching up on the past.
Classmates meet once a month at a restaurant or home to keep their high school memories alive.

HOWLAND HIGH SCHOOL Class of 1980 will hold a 30-year class reunion on homecoming weekend Oct. 1 through 3. Events include a tailgate party and football, tour of Howland High School and party at Leon's on Oct. 1.
On Oct. 2, there will be a golfing at Avalon South and dinner with entertainment at the Trumbull Country Club.
