YOUNGSTOWN -- Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray said this morning he expects to return to Youngstown in two weeks with his verdict on whether the proposed sale of the Forum Health medical system to Ardent Health Services meets state standards.
Cordray told reporters at his downtown Youngstown office that it's not clear if his review could hold up the sale. He noted federal bankruptcy law requires a sale to be done according to state law, which includes his approval.
Cordray said other bidders for Forum would be subject to a review by his office. He said he's aware of interest in Forum by Community Health Systems but that he hasn't received a proposal from the company. He urged any bidders to submit proposed sale information quickly to give his office time to do a review.
An auction for Forum's assets is scheduled for Aug. 5 in Cleveland. Bankruptcy Judge Kay Woods has set an Aug. 10 hearing in her Youngstown court to rule on the sale.
