GIRARD - Michael Hulvalchick, 98, of Girard passed away Thursday evening, Feb. 11, 2010, at Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital with his family by his side.
Michael was born Sept. 2, 1911, in Cleveland. He was the son of Joseph and Victoria Sperka Hulvalchick.
He retired from US Steel McDonald Works in 1972. Michael worked as an assistant mill roller well at US Steel.
He was a member of St. Rose Church. His greatest joy was being outdoors, gardening and taking care of his lawn.
Michael married Lena Spano, who passed away Sept. 24, 1982.
He is survived by his two sons, Mitchell (Karen) Hulvalchick Jr. of Niles and Gerald (JoAnn) Hulvalchick of Girard; a daughter; Diana (Fred) Ranalli of Ft. Myers, Fla.; two sisters; Mary Droba of Parma Heights and Marge Mokri of Cortland; five grandchildren, Mitchell Hulvalchick III, Tara Hulvalchick, Christine Hulvalchick, Renee Voytus and Sheree Mangerson; and three great-grandchildren, Tyler, Isabella and Ava.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Lena; and two sisters, Katherine Dorosky and Esther Stesiak; three brothers, Steve and Nick Hulvalchick and John Hall; and his grandson, Dennis Hulvalchick.
Calling hours are 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at McClurkin Funeral Home and also from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Tuesday at McClurkin Funeral Home.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Burial is at Girard City Cemetery.
