Cardinals shut down Mustangs

NORTH BLOOMFIELD - Bloomfield held Grand Valley's leading scorer, A.J. Henson, to seven points, and the Cardinals had three players score at least 13 points as the Cardionals defeated the Mustangs, 69-56, in a Northeastern Athletic Conference, West Division victory.

Bloomfield (11-4) led by seven at the half and went up as much as 13 in the fourth quarter. Grand Valley cut the lead to eight, but the Cardinals made 13-of-20 free throws to finish off the victory. Aaron Knight had team highs for Bloomfield in points (22), rebounds (10) and assists (seven).

The Cardinals host Ledgemont on Friday.

Grand Valley (9-6) was led by Mitchell Lake's 14 points.

  • LAKEVIEW 52, LIBERTY 44: LIBERTY - The third quarter was the difference as Lakeview picked up its first victory in the All-American Conference, White Division, over Liberty.

After a near deadlocked first half, the Bulldogs outscored the Leopards 17-9 in the third quarter to come away with the victory. Lakeview was led by Elliot Metheny and Louie Novakovich, who scored 14 and 13 points, respectively. Lakeview is now 3-13 (1-3) on the season.

For Liberty, which falls to 5-13 (2-4), Preston Williams paced the way with a game-high 19 points.

  • WINDHAM 70, CRESTWOOD 61: WINDHAM - Windham overcame an 11-point deficit and made key free throws down the stretch in a comeback victory over Crestwood.

Matt Knight and Toren Roubic scored seven points in the fourth. Crestwood was up two with about 3 minutes to go and Roubic hit a 3 to give the Bombers the lead. Windham made 13-of-15 free throws the rest of the way to seal the victory. Windham plays at Woodridge on Friday.

  • HUBBARD 77, CHANEY 58: HUBBARD - Tylor Loveless of Hubbard scored a game-high 30 points to help the Eagles pull away from Chaney in the second half of a non-conference battle.

The game was tied at the half, but Hubbard (10-5) outscored the Cowboys, 24-13, in the third quarter to take control. Three other players scored in double figures for Hubbard: Chase Myers (10), Kory Hopkinson (12) and Mike Lopuchovsky (13).

Chaney (5-11) was led by Phillip Hudson's 14 points.
