Shepherd of the Valley locations throughout the county are collecting needed items for dogs, cats and other animals in need cared for by Animal Charity.
The collection is SOV's ''Operation Santa Paws,'' drive for animals cared for by Animal Charity.
The public is invited to join the drive by bringing donated items for animals at any of the four Shepherd of the Valley locations or the corporate office including:Poland, 301 W. Western Reserve Road, Poland; Boardman, 7148 West Blvd, Boardman; Howland, 4100 North River Road, Warren, Niles, 1500 McKinley Ave, Niles,; or the corporate office at 5525 Silica Road, Austintown.
The deadline for donations is Dec. 16; however, SOV-Poland can take donations through Dec. 21.
Staff from Shepherd of the Valley - Poland will deliver donations to Animal Charity, 3722 South Ave., Youngstown, at 10 a.m. Dec. 22.
Suggested items include: pet food (wet or dry), cat and dog treats and toys; rabbit food; apples; vegetables, such as carrots, broccoli, celery and greens; unsalted peanuts; bird seed; rawhides; pig ears; cat beds; fleece bedding and blankets; newspapers; litter; heating pads; trash bags and cleaning supplies; towels and sheets; paper towels, and plastic containers and totes with lids.
