Charles Clair Wishart 1922-2009

Charles Clair Wishart, 87, of Warren, died Saturday, December 5, 2009, at the Community Skilled Health Care Centre. He was born Aug. 26, 1922, in Sharpsville, Pa., a son of the late James E. Wishart, Sr. and the late Florence Elizabeth Hogue Wishart.

He worked for the Warren Tribune for 18 years and General Motors for 22 years. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. During his military career, Mr. Wishart was awarded the Purple Heart, a Silver Star and a Bronze Star for his heroism in action.

He was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church and a member of the Old Erie Lodge #3 for 65 years.

Surviving are his wife, Yvonne Wishart of Warren, whom he married Aug. 26, 1976; sons, Paul (Sheila) Wishart of Gainesville, Fla., Charles (Ornella) Wishart, Jr. of Leavittsburg, and Douglas (Brenda) Wishart of Howland; daughters, Sonia (Pete) Baca of Bristolville, Linda Bunch of Youngstown, Yvonne (David) Colley of Lordstown, Denise (Keith) Phelps of Marissa, Ill., Tina (Gerry) Whittaker of Newton Falls and Rosemarie (Jim) Roby of Champion; 20 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; and brother, Robert Wishart Sr. of Leavittsburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Roberta Karnes; and three brothers: Edward, Jr., Buckley, and his twin brother Paul Wishart.

Services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, where Pastor Thomas Baumgardner will officiate. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Old Erie Lodge #3 will hold services at 5:45 p.m. Interment will be in Lordstown Cemetery.
