LAKE MILTON - Russell O. Whiteleather, 87, of Lake Milton, died at 8:15 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009, at the Summit Villa Care Center in Tallmadge following a brief illness.
Russell was born May 28, 1922, in Sebring, the son of Ernest and Frances M. Mick Whiteleather.
He had been employed as a machinist with the United Engineering Corporation for40 years and was a former councilman in Lake Milton. He was of the Baptist faith.
Russell had served his country in the United States Army during World War II.
He is survived by sons, Richard A. and Reed N., both of Berlin Center, and Ross K. of Canton; daughters, Ruth Ann Wilson of Dayton, Tenn., Robin Cheri Ann Nichol of Merced, Calif., and Rebecca Christopher of Akron; a sister, Grace Auden of Lake Milton; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Ruth J. Evans; three sons, Russell J., Randolph and Ronald; two brothers and a sister.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Borowski Memorial Home in Newton Falls, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday and one hour prior to the services on Wednesday.
Burial will follow in the Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.
