Evelyn M. Hurlbert 1942-2009

VIENNA - Evelyn Mercer Hurlbert, 67, died at her home in Vienna on Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009.

She was born May 24, 1942, in Mound-sville, W.Va., a daughter of Evelyn Irene Bostic and Burl C. Mercer.

A longtime Kinsman resident, Mrs. Hurlbert was a resident of Vienna for the past eight years.

She was a member of the former Kinsman Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star for more than 40 years, and was the past matron and was holder of the Grand Cross of Color. Mrs. Hurlbert was also active with the former Kinsman Rainbow Girls where she served as Mother Advisor for nine years.

She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sewing and making crafts.

Mrs. Hurlbert is preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Loretta Eckart; and two brothers, Jack and Burl Mercer.

Survivors include two daughters, DeeDee L. (Joe) White of Deerfield and Amy L. (Gary) Knight of Hartford; two sons, H. Mark (Crychelle) Hurlbert of Liberty, and Allen Hurlbert of Vienna; a sister, Diana (Ernest) Eckart of Hartford; four brothers, Daniel (Kathy) Mercer and Alfred (Marilyn) Mercer, both of Edgerton, Russell Mercer of Lorraine and Charles (Margaret) Mercer of Kinsman; eight grandchildren, Jessica, Chad, Kyle, Shayna, Nathaniel, Isaiah, Crystal and Markie; and three great-grandchildren, Oliver, Garrett and Gavin.

Calling hours will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 8569 Main St., Kinsman.

Private burial will follow in Hayes Cemetery.
