Victims laid to rest

Mother, daughter died at their home

YOUNGSTOWN - Wilneice Green didn't seek the fancier things in life nor did she care much for an exciting nightlife.

She was a family woman, content to staying at home with her five children. And on top of that, she often would watch other children so their parents could spend a night out without the kids.

In fact, Green had been babysitting about 10 kids at her home the morning of Nov. 15, says Sylvia Jennings, pastor at Oak Missionary Baptist Church, who telephoned early to make sure the 28-year-old Green would be attending church that morning.

That Sunday conversation would be one of the last between Green and Jennings, who had assumed the role of spiritual mother for Green and the children.

''Wilneice didn't have the bling-bling and everything else, but she was rich in the Lord,'' Jennings said.

Green and one of her daughters, 13-year-old Ja'Brayasia Green, were later that evening found dead inside their Northgate Drive home in Liberty.

The funeral was Monday at Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church in Youngstown.

''The last time we talked was 8:30 p.m.,'' said Jennings, who delivered Wilneice and Ja'Brayasia's eulogy. ''I didn't realize it would have been the last time we would have talked.''

Quintin Buchanan, minister at Missionary Baptist, sought encouragement and strength for those affected by the deaths and asked those attending to live life every day like as if it were their last.

''I wish this was something I could wake up from and breathe a sigh of relief,'' Buchanan said.

According to police, the first officers to arrive were met by two screaming children. The report states Wilneice Green was found in a bedroom with two of her smaller children while her daughter was found in the kitchen. Liberty Fire Department personnel who responded said they were dead at the scene, the report states.

A sibling who called dispatchers said a man shot his mother and sister and ran out of the home. He said he could not identify the gunman.

No arrests have been made.

The murder was the first in Liberty since April 30, 2002.

I question that there was so many people in this house when all this occurred, yet no arrests have been made. What is the big secret here?

@Billdog you are intitled to your own opinion and I respect that. May I ask you what do you think is more to the story that is being told???

babygirls0909, the killer would be much easier to catch if the public knew who he is. Then he would have less places to hide. I still say much more to this than we are being told.

The killer will NOT be protected to be free to kill another persons family member(s) its just a matter of the police getting the killer. No one is staying hus hush on this matter! Justice will be served!

If there is a serious suspect and the family is in fear, the police need to be acting faster than ever.If this was a family relative or someone close to the family, is justice going to be served or is the family and community going to protect a killer?

some things are just left out for a reason!! Why blab out everything so the killers can get away and know each move???

Billdog has it ever occured to you that they may not be saying anything to the public about what clues they have so that the killer wont leave the state or country or try to kill the rest of the family...just a thought!!!

I don't get it? There were how many kids in the house when they were killed, and they haven't arrested anybody yet? If the person was in the bedroom when the murder occurred how did they get in the house? None of these children knew the murderer? Like I said before, we will hear the rest of this story at a later date. Something smells really bad here.
