HOWLAND - William "Pa" M. Brooks, 66, of Howland, passed away unexpectedly at 7:40 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009, in his home.
Bill was born April 22, 1943, in Canton, the son of the late Dean and Maxine A. Campbell Brooks, and retired in 2000 from East Ohio Gas Co. as an inspector in the engineering department.
Bill attended Living Lord Lutheran Church and was a member of the Army National Guard. He also was a member of Cortland Moose Lodge in Mecca, enjoyed going to West Virginia deer hunting and enjoyed his 1957 Pontiac.
Bill is survived by his wife, the former Carla Jones, whom he married April 2, 1966; a daughter, Sharon (Van) Padula of Warren; a brother, Dean (Sally) Brooks of Massillon; a grandson, Christian Padula; an aunt, Mary Steiner of Canton; brother-in-law, Bruce (Sue) Armstrong of Howland; a sister-in-law, Nancy Canfield of Warren; nieces, Lori (Jody) DiTunno, Pam (Paul) Wilson, Kimberly (Chris) Knupp, Cindy Paul and Kelly Newbury; and a nephew, Scott (Peggy) Brooks.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents.
Calling hours will be 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009, at the Roberts-Clark Funeral Chapel, 180 Garfield Drive N.E.
A Rite of Christian Burial will take place 11:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 30, 2009, in Living Lord Lutheran Church, 851 Niles Cortland Road N.E., with The Reverend Jaclyn Gasior officiating, where family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the hour of the service.
The family requests that material contributions be made to Relay for Life, P.O. Box 4317, Warren, Ohio 44482.
Interment will follow in Crown Hill Burial Park, Vienna.
