WARREN - Jerry E. Dean, 71, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at his home.
Jerry was born Feb. 22, 1938, in Niles, a son of Harry E. and Helen Wangler Dean Jr.
A 1956 graduate of Howland High School, he then attended Miami University in Oxford.
Jerry served in the U.S. Navy in the submarine service. While serving on the USS Sargo, he traveled under the Polar Ice Caps.
In his younger days, Jerry enjoyed golfing and bowling. He worked as a telephone technician for United Telephone and owned his own telephone company in Mansfield.
He was an avid stamp collector and owned a stamp business in Niles. Currently Jerry was a freelance artist doing pencil drawings.
He is survived by his mother of Niles; a son, Brian Dean of Ravenel, S.C.; and a sister, DeEtta (Bill) Miller of Austintown.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Lane Funeral Home, Mineral Ridge Chapel, where friends may call one hour prior to services.
Memorial contributions may be made to the veteran's organization of your choice, in Jerry's name.
