Gerald E. Cranston 1925-2009
WINDHAM - Gerald ''Jerry'' E. Cranston, 84, of Windham, passed away Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, at Renaissance North Health Care Center, Warren.
He was born April 6, 1925, in East Liverpool, and served in the Marine Corps.
He was a deputy sheriff and then became a boiler operator at Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital, Warren.
Jerry was a member of the Garrettsville Masons and Dustman's Deputies. He was a country music fan and enjoyed meeting his buddies for breakfast at T & J's. He cherished spending time with his beloved family and friends.
He is survived by a son, Larry (Janet) Bender of Warren; daughter, Mary Beth (Gary Vogus) Cranston-Owens of Windham; brother, Floyd Cranston of East Liverpool; sisters, Janice (John) Trainer and Gladys (Bill) Stoddard, all of East Liverpool; grandchildren, Craig Bender of Ravenna, Jeff Bender of Ravenna and Brad Bender of Poland, Kimberly Gates and Jeff Owens, both of Windham; great-grandchildren, Katie Bender, Lauren Bender, Lissa Gates, Jaelyn Gates, Tyler Gates, Ethan Gates and Casey Owens.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Florence Haught Cranston; wife, Ruby McCartney; and brothers, Warren and Wayne Cranston.
Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, Ohio 44231. Masonic services will be 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Fred Bell officiating. Burial will follow at Columbiana Memorial Park, East Liverpool.
