MINERAL RIDGE - William ''Edhris'' Garland, 78, of Mineral Ridge, died Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 18, 2009, at the Cleveland Clinic.
Edhris was born March 31, 1931, in Mineral Ridge, the son of the late Gilbert and Mary Jones Garland.
He retired a number of years ago after 30 years with Wean United, where he had been a machinist and then had worked for DeBartolo Corp. and had been a truck driver.
Edhris had been a member of the Mineral Church of Christ for 78 years, and was an avid fisherman, hunter and NASCAR fan.
He leaves his wife, the former Irene A. Fusco, whom he married April 8, 1951. He also leaves five children, William E. (Cathy) Garland Jr. of Mineral Ridge, Donna J. (Doug) Gilkerson of Columbus, Jeffrey L. Garland, at home, Caroline S. (Doug) Bryan of Mount Gilead and John E. Garland of Austintown; and seven grandchildren, Sarah and Katie Garland, Danny ''DJ'' and Larry Fisher, and April, Alan and Ashley Bryan; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Caroline Rose; and a brother, Lamar Garland.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at the Mineral Ridge Church of Christ. Friends may call 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Lane Funeral Home, Mineral Ridge Chapel, and one hour prior to services Monday at the church.
