4:40pm: Judge rules on retirees
Bankruptcy Judge Robert Gerber today approved an agreement between IUE-CWA retirees from Delphi Corp. and General Motors Corp. providing health care, pensions and life insurance.
International Union of Electrical Workers-Communications Workers of America President Jim Clark announced the ruling this afternoon. The agreement, which takes effect Jan. 1, includes roughly 41,000 retirees, including some 20,000 under age 65.

Guess what"in Kentucky", my husband and I both retired from G.M. At the end of 2009 I won't have any insurance because I'm not 65 and my husbands Medicare will cost us $750. a month for his meds. I know so many people that are in the same boat as us but that doesn't make it any easier to swallow does it?

You got it Texaspat.. until they get their acts straight.. which it don't look to promising.. our union rep. told us recently that it will be indefinate to get our insurance back.. i don't believe him, so we will see what the judge is offering all us retirees... They already took our dental and vision.. their in the process of taking our so called medical away that we pay $25.00 a month for... including union dues that our union here at nothing... hell, their gonna close down the saturn plant down here in Ten. and send them all to michigan... " No brains " .. but all that they have caused in my family.. we have wiped the slate with them..they have messed with our lives about 9 yrs now.. we r tired of it.. Just the only advice i can give anyone right now, is save all your money as much as you can.. cause your gonna need it....We have nothing good to say about GM anymore.. I may be married to a retiree from GM, but definetely not proud of them the way they have done us all wro

We all may have our opinions and doubts about everything that we all have worked for,go down the drain because of Gm and Delphi.. Here's a catchy subject:2 months after we came down here,my husband got hurt on the job, it took exactly 3 years to fight it.. We won the case in 2002.There's more that goes beyond saying though, but he had surgery on both hands.Dr's here messed them up worse. We had the best insurance when we got down here, now we see what we have,it's all wrong.. My husband worked total of 22 yrs between the GM plant and Delphi before they consolidated.. then came down here, when they finally "alllowed" him to retire on disability, and when we had gone to sign the papers, they docked his yrs of service, down to 20.9 yrs.He was hourly to!! Plus they screwed us by taking his 1/2 of his check for a year straight cause they forgot to take out surviving spouse benefits when he turned 55. He's now 61. I feel for PassinTime, for what your father had gone through,i am so sorry.

I'm back.. This may not pertain to the main topic, but hubby and i have been lookin and askin' our union rep. for anyone who has come down here from Delphi-Lockport plant.. well, he wouldn't tell us anything.. so i am hoping that someone from there would say " Hey " Where ya been?? LOL.. or " How have you guys been " ?? We haven't seen anyone from our old plant down here at all except Manual(Manny)and Rose Bova.. I guess he left kentucky and so did (Rose Bova transfered to the engine plant)LOL.. My Hubby worked in Building 7,8 and building 10 at delphi before we moved down here.. Well, I hope that we finally get in touch with our old buddies from delphi-lockport some-how soon.. Lost in Kentucky Gina & Jim

To those who are suffering and aggravated with the b.s. with gm and delphi..my husband and i are also aggravated with their b.s. to.. we came down here to Kentucky back in 2000 to the corvette plant..from delphi-lockport.. we thought it would of been a better chance and less stressful.. LOL..well we were wrong.. we're stuck here... things don't seem the way they should be and now with "them" screwing with all of us like this, well they will get their turn.. we always believed in our old union before we came down here.. never turn your back on this union, they are for themselves.. When "they" filed bankruptcy and then the judge tells them to take our vision and dental away(indefinate)..and being told we were lucky otherwise... well, they done it to themselves and we have to suffer..Now with the newest news, with the judge approving our medical/pension and life insurance back by Jan.2010 if i read it correctly..and make it to where, it would be less of out of pocket ex

Well as usual, if you really want some information, you have to go to the Y-Town Vind-y to get it. This only impacts hourly IUE, not salaried. GM will "top off" what the retires would have gotten from the Pension Gurantee Corp. to what they were originally supposed to be. That is great news and honestly, amazing in a bankruptcy case. Now, and this important for the older than 65 retires, the settlement includes a $1 Billion CLAIM against the old GM for medical benefits. According to the Y-Town Vindy article, any money received would be used to pay down the retirees cost Medicare suppliments. Again, this is a CLAIM for $1 Billion, not $1 Billion dollars in cash. It depends on what cash the bankruptcy judge can get selling off the assets of the old GM. The good news is, that wages and benefits are pretty much the front of the line in a bankruptcy filing, so the retires stand a good chance of getting something. But how much they will get, and when is anyone's guess r

It is a sad day in this country when any retiree loses their pensions and healthcare. We should all be fighting for all retirees benefits irregardless of the company.

Of course, I wish nothing but the Best for our Salary Retirees. Delphi is nothing but ANOTHER BERNIE MADOFF. And also, I am not 65yrs. old, it only says it covers those 65 & older. I'm in my late 50's, so I'm screwed. Just when I'm going to need everything they're taking it from me, that's discrimination any way you slice it. And they're calling this a DEAL? Deal for who? I worked at Delphi for 30 years just like everyone else, why discriminate me? I deserve what everyone else deserves. This is no deal, it's a slam to every retiree under the age of 65 yrs. old. Show me how this is a Deal for me. Thank You.

Prestigamo Why would IUE president Jim Clark be announcing a court decision about the salaried workers. That said I agree with Al Ryan lets hope the salaried pensions are next to be topped off.

Well, since it says IUE-CWA, I'm thinking that's the hourly retirees from Delphi. Salaried retirees aren't/weren't in a union. (-:

You Dufus, it doesn't say if it's Hourly or Salary. How are we suppose to decipher this. There's been so much going on, I don't even know what the F... Company I belong to. One day, I belong to General Motors and the next day I belong to Delphi Corp. This is so INSANE!! Can someone please explain if this article means Hourly Retirees, Salary Retirees, or BOTH. THANK YOU!
