Man found dead in Warren woods

WARREN - Police are working to identify a man found dead Saturday afternoon on the city's southwest side.

According to Warren police Sgt. Richard McAllise, quoting from a department press release, the male body was reported to officers at about 3:47 p.m. in the woods, just west of a dead end on Hamilton Street S.W.

Tribune Chronicle news partner WYTV reported that the body was found by men who were four-wheeling through the area.

The man's identity is unknown and investigators are treating the death as a homicide. Police are looking through missing persons reports for possible leads, and the Trumbull County Coroner is working to determine the cause of death, McAllise said.

Warren man discovers he was shot in foot

WARREN - A city man didn't realize he was shot until he finished running home, he told police.

According to Warren Police Sgt. Richard McAllise Sunday, a shooting occurred at 5:36 a.m. at Cafe 22 on Youngstown Warren Road.

The report states that Antonio Waters, 20, of 2714 Duke St. S.E., was at the bar when he was called outside by an unknown male. When Waters went outside the man pulled out a gun and fired at him. Waters ran from the scene and went home. When he got inside his house, he reported that his toe was bothering him, and then he realized he was shot in his left big toe.

Warren Twp. official to discuss fact finding

WARREN TOWNSHIP - Trustees will meet in special session at 3 p.m. today at the township hall for discussion of a police fact finding.

The township is negotiating a contract with the police department.

Trustee Kay Anderson said the township received a fact-finding report on police negotiations Monday, and the board has just seven days to accept or reject it.

That deadline is today, unless the trustees can get an extension, Anderson said.

The trustees met in executive session Sunday to discuss the report, but made no decisions. The previous police agreement expired Dec. 31, 2008, but the police and the trustees agreed to extend the contract by one year.

Agent to speak to neighborhood watch

Special Agent Corey Christman, air base resident agent in charge of special investigations, will discuss ways to enhance the watch program by discussing how terrorists operate, intelligence led policing and how in the future, local citizens will play an even greater part in law enforcement.

Cafe 22 is one of those bars in Warren that needs to be shut down. They have a major problem with drug activity and serving underage drinkers. People have been robbed leaving that place. They really need to check out this place a little better
