Carroll A. ‘Barney’ Barnett Jr. 1936-2009

NORTH JACKSON - Carroll A. "Barney" Barnett Jr., 73, of North Jackson, passed away Friday afternoon, Oct. 30, 2009, at his home.

He was born March 22, 1936, in South Connellsville, Pa. He was raised by his stepfather, Pat Sfero, and mother, the former Pearle Downs.

Barney was a member of the National Pipefitters and Asbestos Workers Union, retiring from Tasco Insulation as a pipefitter. He was a medic in the United States Army during the Korean War.

Barney was a former member of the American Legion Post 737 in Lake Milton, and currently a member of the Austintown Eagles. He was an avid motorcyclist, and enjoyed participating in various poker runs. He also was a pilot, loved electronics, and enjoyed traveling via driving and riding. He visited all 48 continental states.

Barney is survived by five children, Michelle (James) Gibson of Lisbon, Jennece (Chad) Wilson of Lisbon, Carroll A. "Barney" (Michele) Barnett III of North Jackson, Jeffrey (Melissa) Barnett of Girard and Kimberly (Dominic) Trimboli of North Jackson; one brother, Tom (Rose) Sfero formerly of Howland; and 10 grandchildren, James Sturgeon, Jarrod Sturgeon, Joe Gregory, Shawna House, Mickey Trimboli, Mattie Barnett, Kyle Barnett, Dominique Trimboli, Justin Barnett and Brett Barnett.

Beside his parents, Barney was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jamie Frederick.

Barney will be sadly missed by his family and several close friends.

There are no calling hours or services. Lane Funeral Home Austintown has been entrusted to handle the arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Post 737, in Barney's name.
