11:15 a.m.: Leavittsburg man sentenced in child rapes

WARREN - A Leavittsburg man will serve at least 25 years in prison after pleading guilty this morning to 14 counts of rape involving five children.
Guy Brandon McFarland, 35, of Leavittsburg, has remained in Trumbull County Jail in lieu of $1 million bond since his arrest March 9 when Warren Township police say the victim's father caught McFarland in the act of molesting a 5-year-old girl.
A Judge this morning sentenced McFarland to 25 years to life in prison after he pleaded guilty to an indictment charging 14 counts of rape and six counts of Gross Sexual Imposition.
All counts occurred between December and March, and the same indictments spell out the ages of the girls as 5, 6, 7, 9 and 10.

(Continued)......... Guy did a lot of wacked out crap in his life. He stole checks from his parents and cashed them, set stuff on fire, stole from friends. I always, always knew to never trust him around children when he was an adult. Guys IQ in my opinion is approximatly 90, borderline reeeetard. Since Guy couldnt do anything as a kid, he rebelled as an adult and went wild. I havent seen him in about 8 years. There is no excuse what he did. Maybe if his parents would have let him be a kid, possibly this wouldnt have happened.

Let me say this, alot of you posters say you personally know someone when commenting on a topic. That being said, I swear to god on my life Guy Brandon McFarland is my cousin. He was adopted in 1973 by Duane and Kathy Mcfarland. Guys biological parents were big time pill poppers and cocaine addicts. He was screwed up since the day I met him (When I was one year old). Guys addoptive parents (Duane is my blood uncle) made him and his adopted sister Mellisa go to church about 4 days a week, they constantly pounded the bible into there heads non stop, they couldnt listen to any music because my aunt said rock music is "sin music". These kids were home schooled and couldnt associate with anyone outside of their church. When I was about 8 my brother and I were over Guy and Missy's house, we were in the basement and Guy said "Hey look at this". He pulled Missys pants off and started to fondle her. Some say, "where are the parents". The dad caught him in the act. Then the same poster says "the father should have killed him, thats what he should have done" Why should he have killed him? In todays world if he had killed the molestor. The molesor would be dead and not have to live in jail for what he had done and the father would probably be in jail for more than 25 years. The father did the right thing and sent this punk to jail. As much as I would like to send a mob after people like this, you just cant do that are you get in more trouble then the punk himself.

Skywarn11: Thank you for showing up. I mean dont take it the wrong way but it just seemed like there wasnt as much outrage for this crime as in others that has been reported on here. First thing people said on here when the black kid killed someone people was on here saying hang him in the courthouse. And i didnt hear any of that when i logged on. This man deserves to die a slow painful death in my opinion.

The article written about this when it was first reported stated that he was staying with his ex wife and her husband, it also said he was the father of some of the children that were living in the home. I don't know if those involved were his own, regardless his sentence is not enough. I wouldn't have thought twice if I were on the jury and the death penalty were an option.

25 years to life for child molestation is a much longer sentence than say 25 years to life for armed robbery. This guy will never get out of the system and never touch another child. I'm just glad the sicko did the right thing and plead guilty at his indictment, sparing those children and their families the pain of a long trial. Most judges won't even allow someone to plead guilty to charges that serious. This court did and should be commended for it. The system worked this time.
