Free costume party for kids

A free HALLOWEEN COSTUME PARTY for children ages 12 and younger will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Sahara Club II, 2345 Youngstown Road, Warren. All children will receive a goody bag, snacks and refreshments. There will be games and prizes for the best costume. All children must be accompanied by an adult or guardian. Laurie Ann Nursing Home and Allan Dell Assisted Living in Newton Falls will hold the annual in-house TRICK-OR-TREAT from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Roosevelt Elementary School, 110 Orchard Ave., Hubbard, is holding its school book fair today through Friday. The FAMILY NIGHT FALL HARVEST FESTIVAL will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday with a scavenger hunt, games and a haunted house.

The Liberty Masonic Complex, 1350 Shannon Road, Girard, will hold a STEAK FRY from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday sponsored by the different organizations that meet at the complex. The Downs Syndrome Association of the Valley is holding its GRAND OPENING for the Center for Success, 945 Boardman Canfield Road, Suite 12, Boardman, from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday.

Mall-goers can take advantage of the expert advice provided by the various vendors on such topics as prescription assistance, advance directives, home care, hospice, congestive heart failure and injury/fall prevention. Dr. Francisco Cano, allergist, will speak at noon on allergies, sinuses and colds.

Covenant Presbyterian Church, 2050 Oakdale Ave. N.W., Warren, will hold an OLD-FASHIONED CHRISTMAS EXTRAVAGANZA from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. There will be food items, crafts, gifts and baked items and three raffles. Lunch will be served on Saturday with free cookies and coffee on Friday.

The MAHONING VALLEY POSITIVE PEOPLE NETWORK will meet at 5 p.m. today at BW3's in the Southern Park Mall in Boardman. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m.

The fourth annual Penn Ohio Watershed Association and Partners Pymatuning / Shenango WATERSHED CHALLENGE will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Munnell Farm in Mercer, Pa. The event is an academic competition with an environmental focus for students in grades sixth to eighth grade with school teams from Ohio and Pennsylvania.
