GIRARD - Ashley Jean Monro, 25, a vibrant, intelligent, beautiful and loving young woman, found her peace when she passed away Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009.

Ashley was born April 12, 1984, in Girard, a daughter of Rex Thompson and Susan Dixon Thompson.

While growing up in Girard, Ashley participated in youth softball leagues and sang in the children's choir at Girard United Methodist Church, where she was very active in youth group. She excelled in school, soaking up knowledge with enthusiasm and making so many friends just as quickly.

After graduating from Girard High School in 2002, Ashley met and married Dmitri Monro in 2004. Together they have one son, Nikos, for whom they beam with adoration and pride.

Ashley was a student at Youngstown State University, enrolled in the school of nursing. This choice of study further displayed her unselfish and compassionate nature to all who knew her.

Ashley will be passionately missed by her great many friends and family, including her parents, Rex Thompson and Susan Dixon Thompson of Greencastle, Ind.; her husband, Dmitri Monro of Howland; and especially so by her son, Nikos. She was especially proud of her best friend and sister ,Brittney Thompson, and her loving brother Christopher Thompson, both of Greencastle, Ind. She also leaves her paternal grandparents, Georgia and Eugene Stefani of Howland; her great-grandmother, Dorothy Rex of Newton Falls; and her many aunts, uncles and cousins whom she loved so much. Their hearts and souls will forever carry a void left by her early departure from their lives.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Donna Jean and Robert F. Dixon, and her paternal great-grandfather Thomas Rex.

Friends may call to pay their respects from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Blackstone Funeral Home where funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
