BOARDMAN - Bernice A. Jacob, 85, of Boardman, passed away 1:03 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009, at Briarfield of Mineral Ridge.

She was born March 11, 1924, in Youngstown, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Ocarz) First.

A lifetime area resident, she graduated from South High School. She was a devoted homemaker and was of the Catholic faith. Bernice enjoyed playing bingo.

Her husband, John Jacob, whom she married Aug. 30, 1947, preceded her in death Jan. 19, 2003. She also was preceded in death by a brother Paul First and a sister Helen Mullen.

Survivors include a son David (Janet) Jacob of Howland Township; a daughter Beverly (Tom) Stanec of Poland; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother Henry First of Struthers.

There are no calling hours or services, and the family requests material contributions be made to Hospice of the Valley 5190 Market St. Youngstown, OH 44512-5198.
