WEST FARMINGTON - Elizabeth A. ''Beth'' Schlacht, 84, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2009, at her home in West Farmington with her son, family and friends by her side.
She was born July 20, 1925, in Chagrin Falls to Bert and Grace Bartholomew Andrews.
Beth was an active member of West Farmington United Methodist Church, a Crescent Chapter member in the Order of the Eastern Star, former Alpha Chapter member in West Farmington for more than 50 years, Beaucan 77, and a mother adviser of Rainbow Girls.
She was involved in many activities, including being a Ladies Auxiliary member of the West Farmington Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7200, Daughters of the American Revolution, former secretary of Farmington Grange, member of the Trumbull County Farm Bureau, 4-H adviser, Public Employee Retirement Association, and was very active in the West Farmington Senior Center.
Beth retired from Geauga Industries, where she worked as a lab technician for more than 40 years.
In her spare time, Beth was an avid golfer and bowler. She enjoyed playing cards with special friends Willie and Tillie Owen, and loved watching her great-grandchildren play sports. Beth especially liked spending time with her beloved family and friends.
Beth is survived by her son, John (Marilyn) Schlacht of West Farmington; daughter, Janey (Richard) Rynearson of Florida; brother, Raymond (Phyllis) Andrews of Welshfield; grandchildren, Jeff (Shelly) Rynearson, Julie (Keith) Hendrix, Heather (Jeff) Peters and Greg (Amy) Rynearson; stepgrandchildren, Arlene (Scott) Mollohan, Andy Hope and Bob Hope; great-grandchildren, J.R., Skyler, Storme and Jacob Rynearson, Adam Barker, Brady, Brooklyn and Blake Peters, and Campbell and Andrew Rynearson; step great-grandchildren, Jordan, Devin and Connon Henderson, Trystan Mollohan, and Shane, Brandon, Alexis and Austynn Hope; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hans Schlacht, whom she wed Jan. 28, 1944; a brother, Henry Andrews; and a sister, Helen McEllwee.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, Ohio 44231, where calling hours will be held 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday. Pastor Paula Marbury will officiate and Pastor Jim George will assist with the services. An Eastern Star service will be held 3:45 p.m. Sunday.
Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery, West Farmington.
