Frank Lavigna 1941-2009

WARREN - Frank H. ''Frankie'' Lavigna, 67, of Warren died peacefully at his home, Friday, Aug. 14, 2009, surrounded by his family following a three-week battle with cancer.

He was born Aug. 27, 1941, in Fairmont, W.Va., the son of Frank and Helen (Drake) Lavigna.

A Warren area resident since 1951 coming from Fairmont, he attended Warren G. Harding High School. Frankie was employed as a steelworker and lineman, and he operated several businesses in past years.

He was an avid sports fan and particularly enjoyed the Warren G. Harding and JFK high school teams. He loved the Cavs, the Indians, the Steelers, and he enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports at Southeast High School. Frankie enjoyed listening to music, especially Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. He was a long-time member of the Second Christian Church of Warren and numerous other organizations.

He will be sadly missed by his four children, Frank Lavigna Jr., Mark (Beth) Lavigna Sr., Lori (Jack) Walden, Lisa Lavigna-Kainrad, all of Diamond, Ohio; and eight grandchildren, Mark (Stephanie) Lavigna Jr., Jack Ryan (Fallyn) Walden, Michele Lavigna, Christian Kainrad II, Brandi Walden, Garrett Lavigna, Bryant Lavigna, Noah Kainrad; and two great grandchildren, Logan Lavigna and Braedyn Walden. He also leaves a sister Theresa (Ed) Perine of Southington, half-brother Leroy (Virginia) Yates of Windham, nieces Stacey (Gregg) Pickett of Champion, Judy (Greg) Trimble of Newton Falls, nephew Scott (Marci) Harrell; and many special great nieces and nephews, doctors, caregivers, friends and family members with whom he enjoyed talking and joking.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday Aug. 17, 2009, at Roberts-Clark Chapel where friends will be received 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and for one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Gene Eason will officiate. Interment will be in Crown Hill Burial Park.
