CHAMPION - Sellwyn E. Paine Jr., 64, Champion, died at 11:30 a.m. Monday, July 13, 2009, at Hospice House in Poland.
He was born June 20, 1945, in Trenton, N.J., the son of the late Sellwyn Edward Paine Sr. and the late Clarice Allison Lilly.
Mr. Paine worked as a millwright at GM Terrytown, N.J. Plant then transferred to GM Lordstown where he retired in January 2007. He had 20 years of service.
Sellwyn was an honorably discharged veteran during Vietnam, having served in the U.S. Air Force as an airframe powerplant mechanic.
He was a member of the NRA, 57-Thunderbird Club, UAW Local #1112 and Moose Lodge of Cortland.
Survivors include his wife, the former Kathie Rutherford, whom he married Oct. 12, 1996; two step-sons, Clifford L. (Jayme) Morgan of Johnston and Gregory L. (Sue) Moskal of Austintown; and one step-daughter, Melissa P. Morgan of Bristolville; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Other than his mother and father, Sellwyn was preceded in death by his step-father, John C. Lilly, who raised him.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, with Pastor Byron Powers officiating. Family and friends may visit from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Champion Township Cemetery.
