AUSTINTOWN - The Austintown Fourth of July parade will be held at 2 p.m. today. It will travel from the corner of Raccoon Road and Kirk Road and head north to Falcon Drive. The theme is ''Austintown Remembers the Old West.''

CANFIELD - ''The Canfield Idol,'' 2 to 4 p.m., today on the Canfield Green following the holiday parade. Local talented singers will entertain an audience as judges critique their performance.

CORTLAND - A fireworks display will be held at 10 p.m. today at Lakeview High School stadium with booster groups selling refreshments and other items. Rain date is Sunday.

GUSTAVUS - The Gustavus 4th of July Homecoming will be held today. The parade starts at 10 a.m. at the corners of state Routes 87 and 193. There will be contests, a kiddie tractor pull, food and a spaghetti dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the church basement, followed by a 1 p.m. program at the church. There will be a community garage sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the town hall. Gustavus residents may rent a table for $8 and sell their items. For more information, call Ada Smith at 330-876 5123.

HOWLAND The Howland July 4 Celebration will kick off with a parade at 10 a.m. from the Hunter Woods Plaza on East Market Street and travel to the high school. At 11 a.m., there will be festivities in the grassy area next to the high school parking lot. Festivities will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. including music by Top Notes, Take II, food from local businesses and school clubs, a pet show, games and sample stands from the upcoming Farmers's Market. A 5K Fun Walk will be at 8 a.m. and a 5K Race at 8:20 a.m. at the high school football stadium.

MCDONALD - The 76th annual Volunteer Firemen's Homecoming Festival goes on through today. There will be rides, games and concessions at Woodland Park off Ohio Avenue. There will be games for children at 10 a.m. today.

MESOPOTAMIA - The 36th annual Mesopotamia Volunteer Fire Department's Ox Roast will be held through Sunday at the intersection of state Routes 87 and 534. There will be a flea market, live entertainment and food.

NILES - The fireworks display is at 10 p.m. today. Concession stands by the safety service complex on East State Street will open at 8 p.m.

NEWTON FALLS - The annual Newton Falls Lions Fourth of July Carnival will be held 3 p.m. to midnight today at the city park. There will be rides, games, food and entertainment. The 63rd annual parade starts at 10 a.m. at the Church of God. Fireworks start at 10 p.m. today. Festival entertainment is deejay Mary O and Jeannete Jones Band today.

WARREN - A fireworks display will be held following the 8 p.m. free lawn concert with the W.D. Packard Concert Band at the Packard Music Hall today. The fireworks are scheduled to begin around 9:30 p.m. today. Those attending can bring lawn chairs or blankets.

YOUNGSTOWN - A free fireworks show will be held at 9:25 p.m. today at The Covelli Centre with viewing from the lawn. Musical performances include Jones for Revival and Khaled from the Zou at 7 p.m. in the center of Federal Square. Motorists are not to park in the back lot of Covelli Centre.
