BROOKFIELD - Charges were filed Thursday against a man police believe was with Robert Eakin, the man who was electrocuted during an apparent attempted copper theft earlier this week.
Charles Fisher, of Farmdale, faces one charge each of complicity to aggravated trespassing and complicity to theft in the Monday incident at an electric substation in Gustavus.
As of Thursday night, Fisher had not yet been arrested but had been issued a summons in Eastern District Court.
Assistant Trumbull Prosecutor Sean O'Brien said the charges were filed based on a "statement he gave ... and everything we were able to find in the course of the investigation."
Deputies previously said it was not likely that Eakin, 30, 6880 state Route 45, Bristol, would have attempted the theft without help.
Trumbull County sheriff's detectives used tattoos to identify the body of Eakin.
Eakin had tattoos of a skull and flames on one of his forearms and the word "trouble'' tattooed on the back of one of his shoulders.
Eakin's body was found about 1:30 a.m. at the substation by an Ohio Edison crew.
About 2,000 customers lost power when he sawed through an electrical connection at the substation, located at the intersection of Gardner Barclay and Stoddard Hayes Roads.
