Chester Ray Arthur Thompson 1941-2009July 3, 2009DAYTON - Chester Ray Arthur Thompson, 67, formerly of Niles, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2009, at Hospice of Dayton. Chester was born Nov. 5, 1941, in Morehead, Ky., a son of the late Claude and Nora Adams Thompson. He attended Howland High School and joined the U.S. Air Force at age 18. Chester was a retired senior master sergeant with the Air Force and worked in aerial transportation as a civilian employee with the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. He was a beloved commander of AMVETS Post 106 and a member of the Troy Fish & Game Club, National Wildlife Turkey Federation, AMVETS Post 99, American Legion Post 668 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5436 in Troy, Ohio. He was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister. Survivors include his wife, Donna, and her daughter; his daughter, Debbie of Pennsylvania; sons, Reggie of Dayton and Tommie; his sister, Dolly (Mel) Wilson of Newton Falls, Mary (Jim) Mason of North Jackson and Marie (Bill) Ord of Lordstown; a brother, Raymond (Britta) of Braceville; and numerous other relatives and friends. Funeral services were Tuesday, June 30, in Vandalia, Ohio, with Pastor David Starry officiating. Burial followed at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. (special notice) |
