WEST FARMINGTON - Minnie Jones Amato, 94, died Friday evening, June 26, 2009, at UHHS Geauga Regional Medical Center in Claridon.
Born Dec. 10, 1914, in Rock Island, Tenn., she was the daughter of Eli and Sarah Green. Mrs. Amato had worked at the Johnson Rubber Co. in Middlefield and API Instruments in Chesterland, Ohio. She was married to Joseph Amato for 24 years until his death in 2009. Mrs. Amato lived in West Farmington for 24 years, coming from the Newbury area. She was a member of Newbury United Community Church, enjoyed reading and playing Scrabble and had a great knack for poetry. She truly loved sending letters to her friends and family.
Survivors include her children, Ruth (Frank) Munn of Newbury, Mary Jo (Michael) Saparito of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Paul (Gee Gee) Jones of Monticello, Tenn.; stepchildren, James (Chris) Amato of Bristolville and Carol (Greg) Bruns of Claridon; grandchildren, Charlene (Art) Jensen, Michael DiCillo, Annette DiCillo, Cathy (Frank) Michalk, Guy (Nancy) Munn, Jeff (Heidi) Jones and Melissa (Fritz) Salomon; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, a half-brother and two half-sisters.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Russell Funeral Service, 15670 W. High St., Middlefield. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Contributions are suggested to the charity or church of the donor's choice. Online condolences at russellfuneralservicesusa.com.
