BRISTOLVILLE - Carol L. Simpson, 70, of Bristolville died Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at her residence of a long illness.
Carol Louise Hites Simpson was born May 18, 1939 in Warren, the fifth daughter of Jeff and Lelah (Kyser) Hites.
She attended Farmington Schools, graduating in 1957, and was a hairdresser for more than 45 years.
Carol was a member of Leavittsburg Church of God, a devout Christian who enjoyed spreading the word of God with all that she knew.
Her other interests included a passion for gospel music, country music, crafts, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her sisters, Elaine (Lee) Byard and Nancy (Ora) Hoch-stetler; sister in law, Donna Hites, and Aunt Hazel Coons, many nieces, nephews, daughters-in-law, Robin Simpson and Barbara Stit; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and one great-great-great-grandchild, Cameron Sky-ler Fiorentino.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, John Edward Newell, with whom she shared 17 years of marriage, and Jack Simpson, with whom she shared 21 years; her parents; her sisters, Darlene McIntosh, LaVerne Hites, and Joan Caldwell; her brother Gordon Hites, brothers-in-law, Douglas McIntosh and Howard Caldwell; and her step-daughter Marilyn Yvonne Newell Grover.
She wishes a special thank you to her many caregivers, some of which include her granddaughter, Vonnie Scanlon, great-granddaughter, Brandi Schuman, great-great-granddaughter, Chelsea Haskett, nieces, Shelley McIntosh, Lori Robinson and family, Lelah Wilson and family, Patty Wilson and family and close friends, Lois Quiggle, Beverly Largen, and Kimberly Tenney.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, that monetary donations be made to either St. Joseph's Cancer Center or to the Leavittsburg Church of God.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 27, at Leavittsburg Church of God, 610 S. Leavitt Road, Leavittsburg, Ohio 44430. Friends may visit one hour prior to the service time at the church. Burial will be at Sager Memorial Cemetery in Bristolvile with Pastor Byron Powers officiating.
