Joseph D. Giardina 1930-2009

GREENVILLE, Pa. - Joseph D. Giardina, 78, 339 E. Jamestown Road, died at 3:40 a.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at St. Paul Homes.

He was born July 3, 1930, in Greenville, the son of Pasquale and Concetta Catalano Giardina.

He worked for Van Huffel Tube and was a member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Joseph is survived by daughters, Angela Giardina of Harrisburg, Pa., Mary Giardina of Gila, N.M., and Janet Scott of Greenville; sons, Joseph D. Jr. of Cortland, David of North Carolina, Richard of Greenville and Jeffery of Transfer, Pa.; brothers Raymond of Hermitage, Pa., Robert of Middlefield, Norman of Sharon, Pa., and John of Wampum, Pa.; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Sunseri Giardina.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, Greenville. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Loutzenhiser-Jordan Colonial Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will be at St. Michael Cemetery.
